How to Check for Winter Damage on Fig Trees After a Cold Winter

One of my biggest passions in life is growing fig trees. When done correctly, their fruit is one of the most delicious pleasures I have ever experienced. Starting my tree-growing journey, nothing was quite the challenge, as was the New York winter. The degrees dropped significantly, and the wind blew harshly; I feared my trees wouldn’t make it. 


While figs are somewhat hardy, extreme cold can lead to different types of damage. There are a few things one can do to prevent that damage. But what if the damage has already been done?
